Introduction to the Committee

The automotive industry sector committee within the Saudi–Chinese Business Council works to support the development of the automotive sector in the Kingdom and facilitate effective communication between Saudi and Chinese partners. The committee aims to localize advanced industries, enhance the sector’s competitiveness, attract high-quality investments, and support innovation in vehicle technologies and modern transportation solutions, contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 targets.

Vision

To serve as a national catalyst for innovation and applied research that supports modern industrial trends, contributing to economic growth through collaboration with the Chinese side on a wide range of industrial projects.

Mission

Enabling sustainable growth of the automotive sector in the Kingdom by supporting local manufacturing, developing supply chains, and facilitating Saudi–Chinese cooperation through strategic initiatives, and providing an attractive and stimulating business environment for investors.

Goals

Attracting advanced Chinese companies specializing in electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturing.

Enhancing local content by supporting national factories and spare parts suppliers.

Developing the infrastructure for the sector’s supply chains and logistics services.

Supporting the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies to Saudi enterprises.

Facilitating the establishment of joint ventures between Saudi and Chinese companies.

Contributing to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 targets in advanced industries.

Companies and Institutions

Major Chinese automotive companies such as BYD, CHANGAN, GEELY, HONGQI, and SAIC MOTOR.

Partnerships with Saudi entities supporting the sector such as: the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and the industrial cities authority (MODON).

Cooperation with Saudi companies interested in establishing vehicle manufacturing or assembly lines within the Kingdom.

2025 Accomplishments

Attracting several Chinese investment delegations specialized in electric vehicles.

Organizing bilateral meetings between Saudi companies and their Chinese counterparts to explore joint manufacturing opportunities.

Preparing a detailed report on opportunities for localizing the automotive industry in the Kingdom.

Initiating preliminary discussions to establish an electric vehicle assembly plant with a leading Chinese company.

Supporting the automotive supply chain development initiative in cooperation with “MODON.”

Upcoming Events and Targets

Organizing an extensive workshop in Q1 2026 with Chinese companies to explore modern technologies in electric vehicles and batteries.

Holding a Saudi–Chinese Automotive Industry Forum in Riyadh to showcase opportunities and future projects.

Launching an initiative to support training and knowledge transfer from Chinese companies to Saudi talent.

Following up on the assembly plant project until the technical and financial evaluation stage.
