The China-Saudi Gulei Ethylene Project, a joint project between SABIC and Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group, set several construction records: The ethylene tower was completed in just 32 days, setting a new record in China’s petrochemical industry; 44 large spherical tanks in Tank Area No. 1 were fully capped, setting another domestic construction record. Currently, the project’s largest equipment, the EO/EG unit scrubber, has arrived at the site and is ready for lifting. After inspecting the project site, SABIC’s CEO, Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh, sent a letter of thanks to Fujian Energy Petrochemical Group, praising the “China speed” of the project’s construction. He stated that the project will drive the transformation and sustainable development of the petrochemical industry and serve as a model for cross-regional cooperation.
