Hong Kong businesses have begun to reap the fruits of Chief Executive John Lee’s visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE in February. Architectural firm Leigh & Orange recently closed two deals on “multifaceted giga-projects” in Saudi Arabia and is in the final stages of concluding one in Qatar. The firm specializes in Modular Integrated Construction (MiC), which was used to make COVID-19 isolation units. Alternative investment firm Templewater is negotiating to upgrade Saudi Arabia’s bus fleets with zero-emission technologies and redesign its bus routes to ease traffic congestion. Its recent acquisition Wisdom Motor, which made Hong Kong’s first electric double-decker bus, is also considering establishing a production facility in the Middle East.
