HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Current Position
Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is the Saudi crown prince, first deputy prime minister, minister of defense, and chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.
Education
He received his Bachelor’s degree in law and political sciences from King Saud University, where he graduated the second in his class. He received his secondary education at Riyadh Schools, where he ranked among the top ten students upon graduation. His education was further enhanced by enrolling in various training courses.
Professional Experience
Prince Mohammed has held many positions during his professional career of 10 years. He was self-employed and had many philanthropic initiatives that earned him many awards.
Before pursuing a career in public service, Prince Mohammed earned commercial experience by establishing several successful businesses and investments.
Prince Mohammed began his political career as a full-time consultant to the Experts Commission under the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia from 22/3/1428 Hijri (10/4/2007) until 28/12/1430 Hijri (16/12/2009). He then became a special advisor to the Governor of Riyadh in 28/12/1430 Hijri (16/12/2009). During that time, and while holding the position of a part-time consultant to the Experts Commission until 20/4/1434 Hijri (3/3/2013), He was Secretary General of the Riyadh Competitive Council, a special advisor to the Chairman of the Board for the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, and a member in the Higher Executive Committee to Develop Diriyah.
Afterwards, Prince Mohammed was appointed the Supervisor of the Crown Prince’s Office. In 20/4/1434 Hijri (3/3/2013), by a royal decree, he was appointed as head of the Crown Prince Court with the rank of minister and remained a special advisor to his father King Salman (then Prince Salman, the Crown Prince). Furthermore, he was appointed a General Supervisor of the Minister of Defense’s Office in 5/9/1434 Hijri (13/7/2013).
Some milestones in HRH Prince Mohammed’s career:
In 25/6/1435 Hijri (25/4/2014): Became a state minister and a member of the council of ministers.
In 23/11/1435 Hijri (18/9/2014): Became Chairman of the Executive Committee for the King Abdulaziz Foundation.
In 3/4/1436 Hijri (23/1/2015): Became Minister of Defense, Chief of the Royal Court, and a special advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the rank of minister.
In 3/4/1436 Hijri (23/1/2015): Became Chairman of the Board for the Military Industries Corporation in his capacity as Minister of Defense.
In 9/4/1436 Hijri (29/1/2015): Became Chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs, and a member in the Council for Political and Security Affairs.
In 3/6/1436 Hijri (23/3/2015): Became Chairman of the Board for the Public Investment Fund in his capacity as Chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.
In 5/6/1436 Hijri (26/3/2015): Led the international coalition troops fighting against Houthis in the Decisive Storm.
In 10/7/1436 Hijri (29/4/2015): Was appointed the deputy crown prince, second deputy of the council of ministers, minister of defense, and chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.
In 12/7/1436 Hijri (1/5/2015): Became Chairman of the newly established Higher Council for Saudi Aramco, the Saudi Arabian Oil Company in his capacity as Chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.
In 26/9/1438 Hijri (21/6/2017): Was appointed the crown prince, first deputy of the council of ministers, minister of defense, and chairman of the Council for Economic and Development Affairs.
Philanthropic Initiatives
Prince Mohammed has always been passionate about philanthropic initiatives and social development projects from an early age as he was influenced by his father, King Salman’s involvement in the non-profit field. In 2011, Prince Mohammed established a philanthropic foundation under the name Prince Mohammed bin Salman Foundation “MiSK” which enables young Saudis to learn, develop and progress in the fields of business, literature, culture, and science and technology. Today, Prince Mohammed continues to be involved in MiSK as the Chairman of its board.
Prince Mohammed has many philanthropic contributions through his various positions as:
- Chairman of the Board of King Salman Youth Center which was established as an initiative from King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, to strengthen the efforts of the Kingdom in its support of youth.
- Vice President and Head of the Executive Committee for the King Salman Charitable Housing Association, which aims to provide housing for low-income families.
- Chairman of Riyadh schools (non-profit schools).
- Chairman of the Board for the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives.

- Board Member of the Bin Baz Foundation.
- Member of the higher board for Charitable Organizations in Riyadh.
- Member of the Board for the Holy Quran Association in Riyadh.
- Member of the Board of Trustees for Albir Society in Riyadh.
- Honorary Chairman of the Saudi Management’s Association.
- Honorary member of the National Association for Drug Prevention.
- Honorary Chairman of the Crafted Hands Association.
- Co-founder of the Bin Baz Foundation for Marriage and Family.
Awards
Forbes Middle East presented Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in his capacity as Chairman of the King Salman Youth Center, the Personality of the Year Award in recognition of his efforts to support the youth and communicate their successes to the world.
