The results of data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed that passenger car sales in the country increased by 4.2% during the month of February, compared to the same period last year.

The data released indicated that a total of 1.25 million passenger cars were sold in February, down 40% from the previous month.

In the first two months of this year, sales of passenger cars reached 3.32 million units, down slightly from the same period last year, according to the association.

About 160,000 luxury cars were sold in February, down 3% year-on-year, and down 44% from the previous month.

Retail sales of luxury cars rose sharply in early January compared to the previous month, but the growth momentum was not sustained in February, the association said.

Last year 2021, auto sales in China rose 3.8% year on year to 26.28 million units.
