China: Economic Cooperation and Peaceful and Integrated Development are The basis For Relations Across The Taiwan Straits

China’s chief political advisor, Wang Yang, stressed that economic cooperation remains the basis for the growth of relations across the Taiwan Straits, noting that this cooperation serves the common interests of people on both sides of the strait.

This came in a congratulatory message presented by Yang, who is a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Council of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, on the occasion of the 2020 annual conference of the Businessmen Summit across the Taiwan Strait in the coastal city of Xiamen, Fujian Province. And Taipei “virtually”, on behalf of the CPC Central Committee and its General Secretary, Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Yang expressed the desire of the Chinese mainland to promote the peaceful and integral development of relations across the Taiwan Strait, enhance industrial cooperation across the strait, create a common market for both sides, and boost the economy of the Chinese nation.

He explained that cross-strait trade recorded double growth in the first ten months of 2020 AD, despite being affected by the (Covid-19) epidemic, indicating that this reflects the great momentum, potential and flexibility of economic cooperation across the strait, pointing out that companies are the mainstay of economic cooperation, And contribute to the development of relations across the strait.

He affirmed the Chinese mainland’s adherence to the one-China principle and consensus in 1992, expressing the mainland’s desire to improve relevant regulations and policies to protect the well-being of Taiwan people and ensure that they receive the same treatment on the mainland, in addition to supporting Taiwan companies to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative and the National Strategy for Coordinated Regional Development .

The top Chinese political advisor added that the summit councils on both sides should give it the role of uniting and guiding entrepreneurs to work for major national interests, proceed with the tide of development, intensify economic cooperation across the strait, steadily improve the welfare of citizens on both sides of the strait, and jointly contribute to the cause of the great national revival.
