ACWA Powers, a Saudi energy giant, signed a deal worth SR 2.54 billion with a Chinese-Saudi consortium, which includes Beijing-based Power China, Qingdao-headquartered SEPCOIII, and Riyadh-based Wetico, to build a desalination plant in Saudi Arabia’s Western province. Once finished, the new plant will double ACWA Power’s desalination capacity in the area to 1.2 million cubic meters per day.
