The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the issuance of 79 new industrial licenses last January, with an investment volume of 1.8 billion riyals, an increase of 9% over the same month in 2021 AD, bringing the total number of existing industrial facilities and under construction to 10,352 industrial facilities, distributed in all regions The kingdom.
The report of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information confirmed that foreign investment accounted for more than 6% of the new licenses, while the largest share of the national capital, whose share exceeded 84%, and the rest for joint investments, drew attention to the fact that small factories accounted for 84.81% of the number of The new industrial licenses, while the new licenses of medium industrial establishments amounted to 12.66%, and the food industry activity recorded the largest share of the new licenses with 18 licenses, followed by the activity of the nonferrous metal with ten licenses.
The report indicated that the Riyadh region came at the forefront of the new licenses in the regions with twenty-eight licenses, then the Eastern Region with 20 licenses, while the volume of licensed labor in the new licenses reached 2,134 workers.
The report indicated that the factories that started production during the same month amounted to 106 factories, and the volume of investments in them amounted to 1.6 billion riyals, while small factories accounted for the largest percentage of them with more than 69%, followed by medium enterprises with approximately 28%, and the share of national investments was 87%, The volume of foreign investments exceeded 9% of the total of these factories.
The report indicated that the Riyadh region came first in the list of factories that started production with 43 factories, while the Eastern Province came in second place with 37 factories, and the Makkah Al-Mukarramah region came third with 18 factories. With regard to the activity of the factories that started production last January, came Rubber and plastics activity in 15 factories, equal to the activity of formed metals, then non-metallic minerals activity in 10 factories.
The report of the National Center for Industrial and Mining Information stated that the change in the number of workers in the industrial sector last January amounted to 11,889 jobs, including 2,682 Saudi employees.
